Annual Scientific Conference

Make plans to attend the Annual Scientific Conference (ASC), where over 1,300 of the world’s best and brightest foot and ankle surgeons converge. When you attend this unique conclave of lectures, hands-on workshops, exhibits, and posters, you are surrounded by future colleagues who will understand the challenges you face and will varied and new perspectives on treatments. You’ll return to your school or residency program better prepared to learn to provide top-notch care for your future patients, and you’ll be able to grow your future practice with an arsenal of knowledge, training and confidence.

Conference programs available specific to students, residents and young members:

Young Members Reception
Young Members, attend this reception to meet and network with:

  • The sponsoring company, who has donated funds to support the future of podiatric surgery
  • ACFAS Past Presidents- who have laid the groundwork for your future as a foot and ankle surgeon
  • The ACFAS Board of Directors- the leaders of our professional society of more than 6,000 foot and ankle surgeons.
  • Other students, residents and young members from throughout the country

Student ASC Scholarship
ACFAS is once again providing an educational grant of $1,000 to be given to an outstanding podiatric medical student at each of the eight schools. The selected student will receive the $1,000 ACFAS Student Scholarship Award to defray travel expenses, plus a complimentary registration to the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference.  This registration is in addition to the one complimentary conference registration granted when a student chapter submits a poster.

Scholarships, Funding and Support from Regional Divisions
ACFAS Regional Divisions provide local support and networking opportunities to ACFAS members and student clubs within their geographic area. To find out about scholarships and funds available through your Division, please visit their website, or contact your Division President.

Poster Exhibits at the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference

Student Clubs have the opportunity to submit poster exhibits highlighting their research to the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference Poster Presentation Contest. A maximum of one poster per ACFAS Student Club may be accepted. Each club who submits a poster receives one complimentary registration to the conference. Cash prizes for winners are as follows:

  • First Place - $700
  • Second Place - $450
  • Third Place - $300

The deadline for submission of the poster abstract is October 1.

Manuscript Competition
ACFAS Manuscript Awards of Excellence winners will divide $10,000 in prize money from a generous grant given to the College by the Podiatry Foundation of Pittsburgh.

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically. Detailed information regarding manuscript requirements and policies is printed in the “2010 Call for Manuscripts” and “Instructions for Submitting a Manuscript”. It is important that the author(s) carefully read these two documents before submitting a manuscript.

Manuscripts must be submitted no later than August 3 to be eligible for review by the Committee.
