Division 6 Support of Young Members and Students

Division 6 feels a large responsibility to the next generation of foot and ankle surgeons.  We offer annual financial and didactic support to the students enrolled at both Scholl and Des Moines University. We are currently providing sponsorships for ASC attendance for students from both schools who are submitting posters to the ASC.  We also pledge support of students via surgical training programs with ACFAS members who visit the schools.

If you know of any student activities or resident education opportunities that may need the help from our Division, please contact one of the Division 6 officers (emails are listed at the top of this webpage).

Division Goals for First Half of 2011

The leaders of Division 6 are dedicated to providing its Members with quality education, and we’ll also continue to serve as an educational resource for students within our Division.  We are working on a long-term plan, setting goals for the next two years to provide the following via the Division 6 website:

  • Information of local interest
  • Updates about events within our part of the country
  • Provision of needed information on changes within health care, with links to appropriate sites.

The Division will also continue to sponsor quality local CME events, and will encourage and promote the advancement of the profession through the students in our Division.

Dues

A portion of ACFAS member dues is allocated for Division activities. Divisions use these funds to further the goals of ACFAS at the state and local level: to promote the superior care of foot and ankle surgical patients through education, research and promotion of the highest professional standards. Divisions also work on outreach to students and residents, helping to give them a successful start in their careers as foot and ankle surgeons.

Divisions are affiliate organizations of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons; they are granted a charter and license to use the ACFAS name and logo. They are mandated by their own articles of incorporation and bylaws, and remain separate entities from the parent organization.

For more information about Division activities, please contact Director of Membership Michelle Brozell.
