Scope of Practice Support
ACFAS is committed to supporting the rights of foot and ankle surgeons to practice within the full scope of their training, experience and competence. ACFAS members can help alleviate physician shortages by providing superior and competent care to diseases of the foot and related lower extremities, including rearfoot/ankle surgery. ACFAS wants to reach out to better educate lawmakers and regulators about foot and ankle surgeons and gain their support.
The members of ACFAS look forward to continuing the dialogue with the American Medical Association on accurate information regarding foot and ankle surgeons' qualifications and how we can work in an optimal healthcare team for the best care of our patients.
ACFAS applauds the California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) in their work on a joint task force with California Orthopaedic Association (COA) and the California Medical Association (CMA) to study podiatric medical education's equivalency with allopathic education.
