ACFAS Supports Legislation to Stabilize Medicare Payment |
The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS), in conjunction with over 100 other national medical societies, recently signed onto a letter in support of HR 2474, Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers. This legislation would apply a permanent inflation-based update to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) conversion factor. Such an update will provide budgetary predictability for clinicians who often deal with a wide range of fluctuating economic factors.
While Congress has previously taken action to address recent cuts to the MPFS conversion factor, clinician payment has steadily declined. The goal of this bill would be to create a more permanent solution to ensure Medicare payment is consistent with inflation. This coalition also hopes to have additional conversations with Congress on additional reforms to the Medicare payment system.
ACFAS will keep our members informed on the progress of this legislation.
