Malpractice Preparation – Because it Happens to Everyone

While nobody can fully exempt themselves from a possible malpractice case, experts share some tools to help you avoid getting into litigation with patients. You’ll also hear tips and pearls for documentation, peri-operative management and discussions on complications with patients. To close out the program, experienced foot and ankle surgeons will also navigate real cases to highlight examples of potential malpractice cases.

Ellianne Nasser, DPM, FACFAS
Dr. Nasser is an employee of Geisinger Health System and has been for the last eight years. She is also the Program Director of the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Geisinger Community Medical Center. Dr. Nasser is also a member of the ACFAS Practice Management Committee. 

Speakers
Ross Taubman, DPM
Dr. Taubman is the President and CEO of PICAGroup. Prior to joining PICAGroup, he practiced in Maryland.

Al Ng, DPM, FACFAS
Dr. Ng has been in private practice since July 2003 as the shareholder/partner of Advanced Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Specialists, a division of Orthopedic Centers of Colorado in Denver. He has successfully navigated and won two malpractice cases of his own and has also testified several times as treating physicians for patients. Dr. Ng is also the fellowship director of the Rocky Mountain Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program. 

Barry Rosenblum, DPM, FACFAS
Dr. Rosenblum has been providing expert review for medical malpractice cases for over 20 years and has been giving lectures on the topic of medicolegal issues at local and national meetings. He is the Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Associate Chief, Division of Podiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and the Program Director of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Podiatric Residency Program. 

Maryellen Brucato, DPM, FACFAS
Dr. Brucato is the owner and CEO of Brucato Foot & Ankle Surgery in Clifton, NJ. She has been in private practice for 10 years and opened her own practices three years ago. She now oversees two offices with a total of three doctors and 20 employees. Dr. Brucato is a member of the ACFAS Practice Management Committee.
