Program Summary/Training Goals:

  • This one-year foot and ankle fellowship position is under the direction of Lawrence A. DiDomenico, DPM, FACFAS, and offers an in-depth approach to foot and ankle reconstruction, including Charcot reconstruction and total ankle joint replacement and muscle and tissue transfers for complex diabetic limb salvage.
  • The fellow will be exposed to significant surgical cases involving the forefoot, midfoot and rearfoot, diabetic foot reconstruction, ankle joint fusion/replacement, Ilizarov external fixation technique and peripheral nerve release procedures for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy.
  • The fellow will participate in lower extremity research studies and will be expected to produce two publications and quality research projects during the fellowship year.
  • The Fellow will have access to cadaver lab
  • Dr. DiDomenico is also the residency director at East Liverpool City Hospital. The fellow will be actively involved in teaching the residents at this program.
