The deadline has been extended! Are you a resident or post graduate fellow in the Gulf States or Pacific Region who has a poster case study that you’d like to publish in FASTRAC, the College’s open-access journal? Want financial help to get the job done?

The Gulf States and Pacific Regions want to help you!  Each Region will provide financial support to one local Resident or Post Graduate Fellow Member who is planning to publish a case study into FASTRAC. Those selected will be fully reimbursed for the cost of publication. Resident or Post Graduate Fellow Member support per Region is on a first-come, first-served basis.

How Do I Apply for this Publication Support?

  1. Complete and submit the online form by the April 30 deadline.
  1. By May 15, each Region will contact one Resident or Post Graduate Fellow Member to offer support for your publication. You will receive an email from your Region Vice President whether you were chosen or not.
  1. Applicants must plan to submit their research by the May 31 deadline

I Got Chosen! How Do I Submit My Research to FASTRAC?

  1. View the FASTRAC Guide for Authors. These are the exact instructions on how to submit to this open-access journal as well as the type of research accepted for publication. The page also shows the timeline of articles submitted to either acceptance or denial.
  1. Upon submission, research items are reviewed by the Editor for a final decision on publication. The cost to publish a case report is $525 for members of ACFAS: you will be asked to submit a credit card into the system at the time of submission, but it will not be charged until the paper is approved for publication.
  1. Each Region’s chosen author must go through the submission process first and then wait until the paper is either accepted or rejected. If accepted, the charge is incurred. The Resident or Post Graduate Fellow Member should then submit proof of payment to their local Region officer for reimbursement.

The mission of ACFAS' nine Regions is to promote at the state and local level the superior care of foot and ankle surgical patients through education, research and the promotion of the highest professional standards.

The primary use of Region funds is through the provision of educational programming at a grassroots level and support of educational endeavors through the creation of grants; scholarships; and support of students, residents and young members just starting practice. The Regions are committed to supporting students and residents, specifically their research posters and manuscripts and young researchers' travel and attendance at the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference.

Please visit your Region webpage for more information about funds available, or contact your Region President with any questions or to request support.

The ACFAS/PICA DEI Scholarship recognized its first five recipients and awarded them with $1,500 towards their travel costs and complimentary registration to the 2024 ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference.
