Dr. John Steinberg Elected as Secretary-Treasurer of National Surgical Society

Austin, Texas, February 12, 2016 - In ceremonies today, John Steinberg, DPM, FACFAS, took office as secretary-treasurer of the 7,200-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). The official induction took place at the ACFAS 74th Annual Scientific Conference in Austin.

The ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference, the largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the US, draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

"It is an honor to influence the future of the foot and ankle surgery profession by continuing my service on the ACFAS Board of Directors in an officer role," said Dr. Steinberg. "In this capacity, I will be directly involved in supporting our members' interests and advancing the skills the competency of foot and ankle surgeons to improve podiatric health for patients."

Dr. Steinberg is a professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Department of Plastic Surgery in Washington, DC. He is board-certified in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Steinberg also serves as the director of the MedStar Washington Hospital Center Podiatric Residency Program.
 

Dr. Steinberg holds a podiatric medical degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Florida, and completed his residency at Inova Fairfax Podiatric Surgical Residency Program in Fairfax, Virginia. He then completed a diabetic foot-limb salvage fellowship with the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Steinberg frequently lectures on foot and ankle surgery internationally, and his research has been published in numerous journals and textbooks. He has directed the creation of live surgical case videos and participation in ACFAS podcast series.
