Dr. Laurence G. Rubin Becomes President of National Surgical Society

LAS VEGAS, (February 28, 2017)-Laurence G. Rubin, DPM, FACFAS, took office today as the 66th president of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS), a national association of more than 7,400 foot and ankle surgeons, during the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference in Las Vegas.

The 75th Annual ACFAS Scientific Conference, the largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the US, draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

"ACFAS helps foot and ankle surgeons lead the way in the profession," said Dr. Rubin. "I am honored to again join the Board in a leadership capacity to see through the many innovative projects and initiatives we've launched this year. The College continues to instruct and guide the profession and we will continue our steadfast work for the best health of our patients."

Dr. Rubin practices at the Foot & Ankle Specialists of Virginia, in Mechanicsville. He is board-certified in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Rubin holds a podiatric medical degree from the Temple College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his residency also in Philadelphia at St. Joseph's Hospital, as well as a trauma and reconstruction fellowship at the department of Orthopedic Surgery in Malmo, Sweden. He is also a frequent lecturer and instructor at foot and ankle surgical conferences nationwide and a published author.
