Dr. Laurence G. Rubin Elected as Secretary-Treasurer of National Surgical Society

Phoenix - February 20 2015 -- In ceremonies today, Laurence G. Rubin, DPM, FACFAS, took office as secretary-treasurer of the 7,000-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). The official ceremony took place at the ACFAS 73rd Annual Scientific Conference in Phoenix.

The ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference, the largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the U.S., draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

"It is an honor to serve on the ACFAS Board of Directors in this capacity and to be directly involved in decision making that supports our members' interests and influences the future of the foot and ankle surgery profession," said Dr. Rubin. "I am proud to be part of an organization that is so focused on its members and the needs of the patients we serve."

Dr. Rubin practices at Foot & Ankle Specialists of Virginia in Mechanicsville, Virginia. He is board-certified in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Rubin holds a podiatric medical degree from Temple College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, and completed his residency at Saint Joseph's Hospital, also in Philadelphia. He then completed a Reconstruction and Traumatology fellowship with the University of Lund's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Malmo, Sweden.

Dr. Rubin frequently lectures on foot and ankle surgery, and his research has been published in several podiatric medical and surgical journals, including the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery
