Dr. Michelle Butterworth Installed as President of National Surgical Society

CHICAGO – March 2, 2012—Michelle L. Butterworth, DPM, FACFAS, is now the 61st president of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS), a national association of over 6,500 foot and ankle surgeons. Dr. Butterworth was installed as president at the ACFAS’ 70th Annual Scientific Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

The ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference, the largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the U.S., draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

“I am very proud to be elected to serve as president of the board of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons,” said Dr. Butterworth. “In the next year, I hope to help the College and my colleagues make great strides in advancing the specialty of foot and ankle surgery for the betterment of our patients as well as the profession,” she added.
 
Dr. Butterworth practices with Pee Dee Foot Center in Kingstree, South Carolina and is board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.

Dr. Butterworth earned her podiatric medical degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia, followed by a podiatric surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System/Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia.
