Dr. Michelle Butterworth to Serve as President-Elect of National Surgical Society

CHICAGO— March 10, 2011 –Michelle L. Butterworth, DPM, FACFAS was recently named president-elect of the 6,300-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). Dr. Butterworth was installed to her position at the ACFAS 69th Annual Scientific Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference, the largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the U.S., draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

“Giving back to my colleagues, our profession and patients is very important to me and by serving as president-elect this term and as next year’s president of ACFAS, I hope to make a difference for our members, patients and the profession,” said Dr. Butterworth.

Dr. Butterworth practices with Pee Dee Foot Center in Kingstree, South Carolina and is board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.

Dr. Butterworth earned her podiatric medical degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia, followed by a podiatric surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System/Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia.  Dr. Butterworth’s office phone is 843-355-9690.
