CHICAGO— February 24, 2010-- In ceremonies today, Michelle Butterworth DPM, FACFAS was named secretary-treasurer of the 6,000-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). Dr. Butterworth was installed as secretary-treasurer at the ACFAS 68th Annual Scientific Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference, the largest educational meeting for foot and ankle surgeons in the U.S., draws attendees from around the world to discuss the most current techniques and technology for treatment of deformities, diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle.

“I am proud to be serving on the Board of Directors for ACFAS. I believe in the organization and the collaborative efforts put forth by the members and staff to advance the profession of foot and ankle surgery. It is my hope that our work during the next year will continue to make the difference for my fellow colleagues, the profession and our patients,” said Dr. Butterworth.

Dr. Butterworth practices with Pee Dee Foot Center in Kingstree, South Carolina and is board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.

Dr. Butterworth earned her podiatric medical degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia, followed by a podiatric surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System/Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia.  Dr. Butterworth’s office phone is 843-355-9690,
