Research Requirements:
Publication in peer reviewed journals for work that will contribute to ongoing projects, as well as those that will be decided upon based on the applicant and director’s interests and capabilities. Resources will be made available through Village Podiatry Centers.

Program Summary/Training Goals:

  • This is a surgical foot and ankle fellowship under the direction of Dr. Allen Raphael, with an emphasis on diabetic limb salvage, charcot and other complex adult and pediatric reconstruction. There is some exposure to trauma as well as hospital based care.
  • There will be call requirements at Wellstar Cobb, St. Jospeph’s and Northside Hospital.
  • Fellows must be self-motivated and possess strong surgical skills. The fellow will learn first-hand how to assess and treat a large variety of conditions ranging from diabetic wound care to pediatric conditions.
  • Research will be required for publication in a peer reviewed journal at the direction of the director. Resources will be available through Village Podiatry Centers and through sponsorship from medical industry.
  • The fellow will work with the director and Dr. Andrea Cass.
