Research Requirements:    
  • Submit at least one manuscript to a peer reviewed journal
  • Submit at least one project (Poster or Manuscript) to the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference

Program Summary/Training Goals: 
  • The Hudson Valley Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship offers a one-year Fellowship training program that includes all aspects of reconstructive foot and ankle surgery serving the lower Hudson Valley region of New York. 
  • The Fellow will participate in advanced and complicated foot and ankle surgeries, be involved with clinical research, and present at local and national conferences.
  • The fellow will be learning under the auspice of the Fellowship Director, Todd Stewart, DPM along with other physicians who will assist in the training, lecturing, and mentoring of the fellow.
  • Upon completion of the Fellowship program, the fellow will have gained the knowledge and ability to diagnose and manage difficult and complicated foot and ankle pathologies. Additionally, the fellow will be prepared to achieve board certification in Foot as well as Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery.
  • The Fellow will be introduced to all aspects of reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
  • The Fellow will attend outpatient clinics in the office and wound care center with faculty physicians and will be assigned surgical cases to cover with them. The Fellow will actively participate in assessment and management of these patients. Patient management will include:
    • Active participation in formulating a differential diagnosis and medical and surgical plan.
    • Critical review of imaging studies.
    • Participation in the surgical and medical treatment of the patient.
  • The Fellow will oversee organizing Radiology rounds and Journal club.
