Position Locations:

Research Requirements:

• The fellow is expected to participate in and generate multiple scholarly research projects and present work at the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference.

• The Washington Orthopaedic Center Foot & Ankle Surgery Fellowship is a one-year, fellow-only program designed to develop confident, highly skilled foot and ankle surgeons prepared to excel in private practice, academic medicine, or a multidisciplinary orthopedic group. 

• Led by Michael Dujela, DPM, FACFAS, Past President of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference Chair for 2025–2026, and AO North America trauma faculty/education committee member.  The program offers an exceptional combination of high surgical volume, complex pathology, orthopedic breadth, research, and international experience. 

• Why Olympia Orthopaedic Associates? Train with fellowship trained faculty including two orthopedic foot and ankle fellowship trained surgeons 

• No surgical residents — the fellow works directly with fellowship-trained DPMS and two fellowship trained orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons. 

• Approximately 500 surgical cases, 1,000 procedures, and over 5,000 clinic patients annually. Past years diversity is approximately 50 percent hindfoot and ankle, and 25 percent trauma. 

• Extensive experience in complex reconstruction, hindfoot and ankle surgery, trauma, total ankle replacement, arthroscopy, sports medicine, deformity correction, external fixation, and revision surgery. 

• Additional exposure to hand/upper extremity, hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty, and general orthopedic trauma. Goal is to produce a surgeon who understands comprehensive orthopedic principles.  

• Training within Olympia Orthopaedic Associates, a multidisciplinary group of nearly 70 providers and one of the largest orthopedic organizations in the Pacific Northwest. OOA is a member of Ortho Forum, a national network of some of the most successful independent orthopedic practices in the nation. That gives our surgeons a unique perspective and network.  As a fellow, you train in an environment that is a leader in private physician led orthopedic practices.providing exposure to the leadership and business of successful independent orthopedic practices. 

• International foot and ankle rotation in Germany and Switzerland opportunity for select candidates, including training with internationally recognized leaders and past presidents of the German and Swiss Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Societies. 

• Strong academic emphasis with multiple research projects, opportunities for publication, and presentation at the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference. 

• Fellows typically attend 4–5 educational courses during the year.
