Abstract: Welcome to generation Z. With evolution of new technology, your residents have easy access to everything across the world. Although your residents no longer use a highlighter, they can inappropriately highlight their work through social media. Let’s find out if you should ignore the man behind the curtain as we learn legal ramifications in misuse of social media. We will also explore how you can protect your program by reducing the risk of disseminating sensitive and patient related information in hands of wrong people. We will also discuss how best you can safely use available resources in social media to promote your program.

  1. Learn the pitfalls of using technology in promoting your practice
  2. Be familiar with legal risks of sharing practice information on media
  3. Discuss risk management strategies in social media

Abstract: Let’s take a trip back in time to last year…a review of milestones from an orthopaedic standpoint and what members of the CPME are proposing for the upcoming rewrite. W2: We Have a Really Big Show Tonight: Curriculum Building for Residencies

Abstract: This is a big show! This session covers the curriculum in podiatric medical and surgical residency programs. A panel of experienced program directors will center their discussions on programmatic review. An emphasis will be placed on utilizing the feedback from ‘Annual Self-Assessment’ and your own internal programmatic reviews. Topics also to be included are faculty engagement, new resident orientation, improving didactic experiences, logging, research, vendor relationships, administrative resources and responsibilities. This workshop is intended to be a collective activity to implement best practices.

Learning objectives - Attendings will be able to:
  1. Acquire skills to use their programmatic review to improve and just the curriculum
  2. Utilize feedback from the ‘Annual Self-Assessment’ data refine the curriculum
  3. Improve didactic activities and faculty engagement

GS4: CPME 320/330 Roll-Out for Directors

Abstract: Every six years, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) conducts a comprehensive review of its standards, requirements, and procedures associated with its evaluation activities of its accredited residency programs. In 2020, the Council began review of its CPME 320 publication, Standards and Requirements for Approval of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residencies. Hear the outcomes of this review, next steps in the adoption of any last revisions and changes to the podiatric medical residency education standards, and how residency directors should incorporate these changes into their teaching methods.

  1. Understand the basic changes in the new CPME 320
  2. Comprehend how to adapt to the new requirements
  3. Gain an understanding of how to incorporate these changes into their faculty and own teaching methods
